This book contains a series of twenty lessons which provides the opportunity for instruction in the sounds that may make a difference in meaning in American English. It is intended for basic college speech classes, and may also be used by teachers of English as a second language. The author chose for this book the General American speech standard used by most network radio and television broadcasters.
